The brief
An unfinished basement and a homeowner who hosts. The ask was a lower level that didn't read as a basement at all, somewhere people would actually want to spend the night.
Interior Design
A bare-framed basement turned into a moody hosting lounge, a backlit decorative screen wall, a walnut-and-brass bar, and a hand-set hexagonal floor.

The brief
An unfinished basement and a homeowner who hosts. The ask was a lower level that didn't read as a basement at all, somewhere people would actually want to spend the night.
The approach
Went dark and deliberate instead of bright and safe. A backlit decorative screen became the wall everyone faces; a walnut bar with a brass rail anchors the room; a hand-set hexagonal floor ties it together. Lighting layered low so it glows instead of glares.
The outcome
The room that was an afterthought is now the one the party ends up in.
